JOINED OXFORD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

August 2019

I began my teaching career as a third-grade teacher at The Gagie School in Kalamazoo in 2005, and then taught a second/third grade combined class for gifted learners at Steppingstone School in Farmington Hills before taking a hiatus to spend time at home with my children. During that time I completed my Master’s Degree in Reading and returned to work providing reading intervention in Oxford in 2016. In 2019 I was trained in Reading Recovery and I continue to work with students providing reading support. I am inspired by the words of Marie Clay, “If the child is a struggling reader or writer the conclusion must be that we have not yet discovered the way to help him learn.” My goal every day is to connect with my students and find ways to help them to become successful readers and writers.
I am married to my husband Kent and we have three children. We live in Lake Orion and have a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog named Rosie. I love to read, practice ballet, and go to concerts. I also love traveling and spending time with my family.
